About us
Triyog Himalaya Trust is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation. It was established in 2006 as a partner to Triyog Yuba Shamuha, the local on-the-ground team in Nepal.
Our primary purpose is to facilitate the development of improved health, education and social services to meet the needs of the community in the impoverished Sankhuwasabha District of Eastern Nepal.
We cover a large area and operate in terrain that is remote and difficult to access. Most travel/transport is on foot.
The projects we choose to do are always selected from needs previously identified by the villagers themselves but must fall within our capacity and capability to source the necessary funds.
Our main focus is to help the local people by supporting projects that are sustainable in the long term, so work that supports economic development rather than aid as such. However, we have delivered a small scale aid programme following the devastating landslides that resulted in a loss of villager lives in 2009.
Our current trustees are:
Barbara Vryenhoek, Chair
Sara Rai, Secretary
Kamal Rai, Treasurer
Peter Crosland
Rebecca Easterbrook
Triyog Yuba Shamuha is our partner in Nepal and members consist of villagers who come from the area that we operate in. Most of the current committee live in Kathmandu but travel to and from their homeland as the need arises.

How you can help
We are always on the lookout for people who either have an affinity with the spectacular and mountainous Nepal and/or wish to help people less fortunate than themselves.
The work we do in New Zealand is 100% voluntary, the biggest difference we make is sourcing funds for our in-country partner Triyog Nepal who do the hard work delivering projects for the villagers in need.
If you'd like to help, either in time or financially, you can contact us below.
